Wishlist Member and WordPress 3.1.1

Today Automattic, the company who creates WordPress, released an important patch to WordPress 3.1. Version 3.1.1 of WordPress fixes 26 reported problems/bugs, including an important security flaw with the media uploader. Having previously advised our clients to avoid upgrading to WordPress 3.1 because of the poor track record WordPress has with quality control (the previous major release of WordPress, version 3.0 contained 55 bugs that caused havoc with many websites and their owners, we now recommend to our clients to upgrade to WordPress version 3.1.1 to take advantage of the many improvements.

Setting Up WLM, the Right Way…

I get many inquiries about setting up Wishlist Member the right way, yet many people don’t realize there is no right way to set up WLM.

Wishlist Member is the most advanced and sophisticated membership software on the market and thus, because of this, provides the ability to implement at least a dozen different membership models with the ability to implement numerous content delivery strategies. Installing the Wishlist Member plugin is pretty straight-forward, you just need to upload the plugin to your WordPress plugins folder and then activate it. After that, one extra step is required which is entering your license key and purchase email and you’re ready to get started using Wishlist Member.

But how do you set it up right? Here’s a simple guide to get you started:

New Version of the Wishlist Member API Coming in 2011

It was announced at the Wishlist Member Live event in Las Vegas that a brand new version of the Wishlist Member API is currently in development and is slated for public release somewhere around the beginning of the second quarter 2011.

Having seen fist hand some of the new functionality, I am happy to say the new functionality that will be available in version 2 of the API is very exciting indeed. The new function calls will allow even more 3rd party development that will extend the already feature rich offering of the Wishlist Member membership software.

WLM ver 2.5 Released Today

Today, November 17th WishList Products has released the newest version of their WishList Member membership plugin for WordPress.

Version 2.5  includes new, Full integrations for PremiumWebCart, InfusionSoft, RedOak Cart and a testing integration with the PayPal Sandbox.

PremiumWebCart is the new kid on the block and quite frankly, has been putting a huge dent in 1ShoppingCart’s client base. With last month’s complete meltdown at 1ShoppingCart (their entire platform went down for 2 days – Yes, that does mean that none, None of their clients were able to sell anything) – PremiumWebCart is able to offer a better platform with features that just frankly out-perform the dated offering from 1ShoppingCart.

In addition, the previous integration with 1ShoppingCart has been improved to Full integration – meaning if a member cancels their recurring payment, their membership will automatically be cancelled as well.

In addition to integrations, WLM now has Folder Protection where folders on your hosting server – and all their containing content – can be protected by membership level. A very handy feature when you want to offer protected downloads to your members.

New Version of WishList Member Due Nov 1st

Our sources tell us that a new version of WishList Member is due in just 10 days time on Nov 1st 2010. We’re keeping our sources confidential at this point, however we can tell you that new features will be released that include major updates to the WishList Member API (application programming interface).

It is also rumored that native integration for Premium Web Cart will also be released. Premium Web Cart is being referred to as the “1ShoppingCart Killer” – especially since 1SC suffered a major outage 2 weeks ago that crippled the businesses of ALL of it’s customers.

Kajabi – A Business Owner’s Nightmare

You won’t find us promoting Kajabi from Andy Jenkins here. We’ve actually had a number of clients contact us asking us what we think about Kajabi. Well, we’ve watched the video, we’ve read between the lines and we’ve looked at the service Kajabi is offering as any business owner should look at it – from an investment perspective. And we can say with confidence – “We Are NOT Impressed!”

Kajabi is being promoted as a “Marketing and Content Management” platform. So let’s look at that in detail.

How to Grow Your Membership Automatically…

I’ve attended many internet marketing seminars over the last few years.  At one of these seminars, the trainer on stage held a small cup.  Then, he poured a ton of pennies over the cup.  Most of the pennies ended up scattered everywhere on the floor.  Only a small handful of pennies ended up in the cup.

He poured the pennies again, but this time, he put a funnel over the cup.  Many of the pennies still missed, but he filled that cup with pennies in just a couple of seconds.

The analogy is simple: if you capture as many leads as possible, you’ll make more sales and more money.

Membership Magic…

Sometimes when creating a membership site it helps to take a step back and change your perspective. If you already have a membership site then this can be great advice for you to. Sneak Peak of New Wishlist Member Features
